After windows update, DVD hogs system resources

Running XP-PRO on a P4.
Windows just performed an update and restratred my computer.
Now when I write a DVD, it takes 1 hour to write
and it is impossisble to use the computer as the DVD drive hogs all
the system resources.
Please help

Which updates have been installed? Check the "History" on the Windows
Update site.

Which application are you using to write a DVD?
