Updates not installing on battery power
How do I get automatic updates to install when shutting down my laptop even
if it's on battery power? Unplugging it from the mains when it's installing
the updates cancels it. I am using Windows XP Professional SP2.

Re: Updates not installing on battery power
What updates are you attempting to install? Is this sudden, new behavior or
an ongoing problem?

Any automatic updates for the operating system that automatically get
downloaded. It is an ongoing problem.

Re: Updates not installing on battery power
This *may* be default behavior but I must admit I've never seen a question
about it.

When this happens, do you see a 0x8007F0F4* error? What does
WindowsUpdate.log have to say about this?

Control Panel > Power Options > Power schemes: Are you using one of the
Windows schemes or one associated with Power Management software install
with your laptop (e.g., Dell QuickSet)?

*0x8007F0F4 = Setup cannot continue because one or more pre-requisites
required to install failed.
