Security Update for Windows XP (KB943460) won't install

I can not get this update to install?? I get error code 0x80070005.

Any help greatly appreciated??

You're logged in as Admin or with admin rights?
In case you are, there's most likely some sort of "security software"
running in the background preventing the update to install properly.

I also am having the same problem even though I have switched off my
Avast virus protection.

I will look further into the problem later today.

And which additional applications are running in the background?
Have you tried a simple reboot of Windows?
