KB890830, KB943559 Won't Install On Vista 64 bit Ultimate
This is the FIRST time I have run into something like this--either with XP or
Vista.
I am currently running Vista 64 bit Ultimate. Everything is hunky
dory--until today.
I tried to do the Windows Update. There were six of them. Two of them
important, but the two important ones won't download or install!
The two are: 1. Windows Malicious Software Removal Toolx64(KB890830) 2.
Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter 2007(KB943559).
The error code is: 8024402C
Windows Help tells me that this error might be caused by some antivirus or
anti malware program running on my system, but I don't have any of those. I
only have Windows built in firewall.
I searched in this NG and have found quite a few reports on the problem with
the malicious software removal KB(890830). Some have proposed some
workarounds--manually install the monthly update or installed the Guided
Help. I might try those.
However, I am VERY much puzzled by the mistakes in Windows Update I
experienced today. As I've said, this is the first time that I have
experienced anythign like this. Could someone please shed some light on this
thing?
It is kind of annoying, to be honest with you, because this is Windows
Update being installed on Microsoft's operating system, not some third party
software installing on Windows!
FYI, I don't have any weird apps on my system--Adobe Acrobate Reader, MS
Office 2007, RivaTuner, Firefox, Foobar2000, etc. That last one might be a
little weird, but I need it to play APE files and FLAC files.
Hope somebody can help me out on this one.
Thanks!
