Before I proceed with your suggested action..... Microsoft made a followup
call to me.....and I advised what had taken place, KB936181 was be offered
again for Install. If I hide it, then KN927978 would show as an available
Update. If I hide ...978, then KB 1941833 would appear as an available
update. All 3 of these security updates appear in my Program & Features Lists.
The Agent did many things, and finally ..181 & 978 don't show as available
updates, but KB941833 does.
The Agent seem satisfied all was well, but he sensed I did not feel that
way. The agent them Remotely ran a Diagnostic test, "Microsoft Support
Diagnostics Report". That report shows an Error message......
SYSTEM Details: The Windows Update log has recorded errors in the last seven
days that may prevent access to Windows Update.......
Followed by a Header "SUMMARY of WINDOW UPDATE ERRORS"......
Then there are 10 items listed none of which mean anything to me......nor
are any of them dated.
The agent then tried to stop some services...I recall Windows Update was one
of them....tried to delete a few files Caroot2 could have been 1 of the
files......
KB941833 still continues to show as an available Update and the Error
message.... I realize the rsults in the Diagnostic Report are timed
stamp...so I would expect anything that was done following the creation of
the report would change its findings (and of course it still shows Windows
error in the past 7 days may prevent access to Windows Update)
The call was ended...it lasted 3almost 3 hours....with the agent advising he
would elevate the problem and I would get a call back.......
I sure hope "other" things have not been messed up......
