Windows Update under Vista: No GUI

Hi,

when I open windows update in the start menu, i get an empty dialogue with
sometimes buttons and icons, but no text (see a screenshot here
http://www.bernd-liebermann.de/images/vistaupd.jpg). Security center tells
me, that windows update is turned off and cannot be turned on - nevertheless
i seem to receive updates regularly. I would be grateful for any useful hint.

For several reasons i did a reinstall of vista which fixed the problem :-)
Sorry, that I don't have a more practical solution.
