RE: Vista Windows update hangs
Happens to me too, every month. Mine hangs on the download, not install. Try
to cancel and explorer stops responding. Reboot and try again works, although
you may have to repeat the cycle. For example if you start with a 100k
download it may hang at 30%, reboot and you have a 70k download, hangs at
50%, reboot and you have a 35k download and it finishes. It never fails to
install, only the download stalls. Seems to work better (but not always) if
you try this KB standalone if there are other downloads as well.
I tried support and they suggested a few options, but none worked. I have
found that a manual install from the MS KB webpage always works, just search
for the KBxxxxxx on Microsoft.
