Documents won't Print or Delete

Documents I am trying to print quite often sit in the printer queue without
printing. I am unable to delete them once this happens. The status says
'deleting' but it doesn't. I've even shut the computer off for the night,
come back the next day and the same document was in the queue still being
'deleted'.

Did you turn off the printer as well?

Yes, the printer was off as well
