i have an mfc 640 brother printer & i am able to get the control panel
up & email/scan, when finished it will not open the windows mail, to
which file do i connect it with, because i tryed many & will not work

As I remember, that MFP is an older device, and might have worked with
outlook express and/or outlook. Thunderbird is also a possibility.
I gave mine away over a year ago, due to various problems--
Slow, uses too much ink at a high price, feeder misfeeds, and so forth.
