Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
ms has nothing to do with providing drivers for your printers.
its hp trying to encourage you to buy a newer printer which they have produced since vista was released so they do not have to update drivers for the older stuff.

Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
I remember when XP came out, it took HP about 5 months before the new xp
drivers came out... If you go to their web site, they will show what Vista
drivers to install for your printer.....I figure another couple of months
before they start to get new drivers out....

Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
So far,, so good.
The printing quality is excellent, and after working with Mr Hamrick,
the scanner works with Vuescan ( www.hamrick.com). The scan quality is
very good. I like being able to make copies without having to use
software, etc. Plus the cartridges are only around $12 each. If the
printhead lasts like my old Canon S600 did, I wont have to worry about
it clogging for about 5 years. By that time, I'll throw it away and
buy something new.
Good Bye and Good Riddence to Epson and HP !!

Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
That's fine Ric, if your HP Printer can use a generic PS5 or PS6 driver! My
HP LJ 1020, which is less than one year old, has it's own propriatory print
driver, the XP version of which refuses to install in Vista. So I have a
pretty new LaserJet Printer sitting doing nothing, except being a
paperweight, until HP get their act together and release Vista compatible
drivers!
As for going out and buying a new printer, this very same model line is
still being sold by HP today, it's not as if it's an obsolete model! You can
walk into any computer store and pick up the same LaserJet 1020 Printer
today and still not get drives for the latest OS from Microsoft! Again what
was HP doing last year when Vista was in Public Beta? It's not as if the OS
hasn't been around for long enough to be available to HP's developers to use
for developing compatible drivers! That's at lease one reason MS released
Beta versions of the OS so that 3rd party Hardware and Software companies
could get their hands on the code to start developing compatible drivers and
software!
If Canon can release drivers for their printers within days of the launch of
Vista, why can't HP?!?!? Did HP just ignore the impending launch of Vista
until it was actually released, or what? It will certainly make me think
twice about investing in any sort of HP kit in the future.
I do also have an HP ScanJet 3500c flatbed scanner, which HP, in their
corporate wisdom, have decided in too obsolete to both about. They have
decided not to develop a full featured scanner driver for this model, though
they have released what they call a 'basic' driver that at least allows
basic TWAIN scanning in Vista, but a lot of the tweaking of the scanner is
missing in this driver completely. Also the buttons on the front of the
scanner no longer do anything! Again I'm less than impressed by HP, the
scanner is only just 3 years old and is in perfectly good condition and
still works excellently, so I would expect it to work for at least another 3
to 5 years before it needs replacement! But curtesy of HP, it's now pretty
much obsolete!
From another miffed HP customer!
Jonathan.

Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
My first printer was an Epson, and that was way back in 1981 (dot
matrix).
Many printers since that, but I'm engaged with Epson again, bot scanner
and printer, and I love them dearly. Has always made me happy, and
haven't been bitchy at all.
Scanner is 4870 Photo and printer is Photo 950. Great pieces of
hardware.
Now I'm running Vista 64 and have neither operational.
When XP was launched, I was early, and with exactly the same problem.
No drivers, mailing support back and forth, waiting and waiting,
but eventually there was light in the tunnel, and my epsons
up&running.
I think too many people are flaming either Microsoft or a hardware
company when something are not working like clockwork. We're talking
computers after all.
Remember how millions waited for XP SP2.
We're not running SP1 on Vista yet, but you want it, and you want it
now... like me. If we want to play ball, we better take the pain without
tears!

Re: How mutch longer must we wait?
Sunhome, go to the Epson site and for the scanner, download the
epson12180.exe file. I have the same scanner and in Vista ulitmate 64, that
driver is running ok. I would uninstall all the other drivers, unplug the
scanner first, then reboot, install the drivers and then plug the scanner
back in. hope this helps for you.

Dear
I ran into your message quite accidentally while researching about
some details on 'Back Pain' and thought of sharing some of my
findings.
I've read at 'http://www.medical-health-care-information.com/Health-
living/Back-pain/index.asp'
that Chronic back pain is commonly described as deep, aching, dull or
burning pain in one area of the back or traveling down the legs.
Patients may experience numbness, tingling, burning, or a pins-and-
needles type sensation in the legs.Chronic back pain tends to last a
long time, and is not relieved by standard types of medical
management. It may result from a previous injury long since healed, or
it may have an ongoing cause, such as nerve damage or arthritis.
I hope the above is of some help to you as well. Regards, Sherrybove
