Print Spooler Runtime Errors
I was having a problem with communication between my Compaq V6000T notebook
and Lexmark 7675 printer. The good news is that eventually Lexmark was able
to solve the problem by changing some settings in both the McAfee and Windows
firewalls, the print spooler settings in “Services.msc”, and making the "User
Account" experiencing the problem as a second administrator. Lexmark
performed these changes remotely. The bad news is that I now get the
following error messages whenever I boot the PC:
FIRST MESSAGE = “Runtime Error! Program C:\Windows\System 32\Spoolsv.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way”.
I then can close the FIRST MESSAGE, and then
The SECOND MESSAGE appears stating “Spooler subsystem App stopped working
and was closed”. I then can close the SECOND MESSAGE, and everything,
including all printer functionality, appears to operate normally.
Lexmark CSR’s believe the problem is in the Windows Registry, but they don’t
want to tackle it. They have suggested that I contact HP or Microsoft for
assistance, but I’ve had better luck with newsgroups before, so here I am.
Incidentally, to the best of my knowledge, Lexmark did not make any changes
directly to the Windows Registry. The operating system is Windows Vista Home
Basic, SP1 build 6001, and the Lexmark software installed is their latest.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem will be sincerely
appreciated. Thank you.
