My sister has recently bought a new computer with microsoft vista and
can no longer use her Dell A920 all-in-one printer.
We have installed the latest printer driver from Dell.
The printer is attached to computer with a USB cable and the computer
is able to detect its presence and set as default printer.
However either one of two problems occurs despite repeatedly
re-installing the printer.
(1) Whenever attempting to print the computer indicates that the
printer is off line. This is not indicated by the print menu so much so
that if the printer is set to use in off line mode it appears on the
status bar as offline offline. Neither test page nor any other printing
programs works.
(2) Error message regarding the USB port communication. The USB drivers
are enabled, each of the three USB ports are activate (on status bar and
by plugging in a USB memory stick). The cable to the printer is not
loose and there are no specific printer settings to switch it to a USB
input.
As this does not appear to be a specific print management problem I
wonder if aonyone can help.
Thank you
Yours sincerely
Charles Aston
