printing too many copies

I'm having trouble with Vista printing too many copies of anything I
send to the printer - especially if I want more than 1 copy.

I have a brand new laptop that came with Vista (gag) I didn't really
have a choice. I run Firefox, Thunderbird and Open Office. When I
send things to my HP1220 the first page only gets the first inch
printed, then page two - x prints okay, then it starts over and over
and over. I have this problem in Open Office, with .pdfs ... just
about anything I try to print.

I am not technically savvy but I have looked everywhere that seems
logical and some places that don't seem logical (hey we're talking
Microsoft here) to set default print parameters...still it doesn't
help. What am I missing or doing wrong?

HELP!??

Do you have the same or a similar problem if you create a document and
print it with WordPad?

It is both a good thing and a clue. :-))

I don't know what the specific cause is but at this point I would try
removing Open Office, rebooting the computer and reinstalling it. Then,
try printing.
