General experience where I hang out as well as here is that these USB
to whatever (parallel in your case) are frequently ineffective.
More reliable if your laptop has a PCMCIA slot is an adapter to
parallel for that but they are not cheap.
Given that there may not be fully featured VISTA drivers for the LJ1000
it might be cheaper and more effective to buy a new USB printer -- but
make absolutely certain it has fully supporting VISTA drivers -- buy it
from a place like Office Depot or Staples where you have a 14 day
warranty of satisfaction and take it back with no questions asked. Just
keep all the packaging and don't send in for rebates .....
