windows photo gallery

Windows Photo Gallery has quit working. I click on the icon from my start
menu and nothing happens. I have restored the computer to previous "good"
settings and then it will work one time and then quits working again. It will
not start from anywhere. The only way I can use my scanner is through Photo
Gallery and I really need it. Any clue as to what is wrong?
