You have to send mail directly to me for the file. Read the message for my
email. No online needed. I cannot attach them.

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
Interesting. HP is content with the 6500 drivers and as long as Microsoft
doesn't "push" the issue (since it IS a Vista issue) we will continue to have
to manually print two-sided. I have had the same reply from 3 separate HP
techs - use the 6500 drivers. Perhaps if Mr. Morris contacted HP, he would
have better results than us poor users. If nothing else, it would save him
the time of replying to the same question.

Quite frankly, Vista has been an irritant since the day I started using it!

I've been bugging the HP LaserJet developer on this for a year now. I even
forward some of your mail (removing address's of course, but I don't think
they'd contact you).

HP wrote, tested, and confirmed functionality for the HP drivers included in
Vista.

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

I sent the following email to the "Chairman of the Board" (bod@hp.com)
and to Mark Hurd @ HP.

I've been dealing with HP since Mar 07 re VISTA and Duplex printing on
my Officejet 7310. January 30 I was told that the VISTA Service Pack 1
"might fix the problem". I installed it last week and it didn't fix the
problem. The 7310 still prints duplex in "FLIP MODE ONLY".

I spoke with Microsoft support two days ago and the support rep I spoke
with indicated he was aware of the "HP VISTA DUPLEX PRINT" problem and
said it is a HP problem. This has gone on far too long. Please look
into the "VISTA Duplex Print Problem" and see if you can get some
resolution.

If HP is not able to resolve this problem that has been ongoing for 18
months, I request that HP replace my 7310 with printer that works or
refund my money ($249 @ Office Max Feb '07).

Also I have been told by HP support that they don't have a single
printer that supports "AUTO" duplex print function under VISTA. I
checked several HP "ALL-In-Ones" on line and if you look hard enough
you'll find the following - "Two-Sided Print (Duplexing) Option Is Not
Available in Windows Vista Even Though an Automatic Two-Sided Printing
Accessory is Installed"

What happened to HP. I've used HP printers for 20 years and have
installed dozens at work. Till VISTA came along all was well as far as
I was concerned. Their tech support was the best. Now - - ?

I have a fix for the duplex issue, send a private email to bobh@mvps.org and
I will send the patch and instructions. Please put "Vista Duplex" in the
subject so I can more easily find it among the spam I get.

For others with the same issue, I have the patch for a number of other HP
inkjet printers as well. Please indicate which printer model you have in
your email.

I do not think that is true, the support person was mistaken.

If you follow one of the links with the above title, such as
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN
you will find the instructions for enabling the duplexer in Vista in the
case where the default in the driver is that the duplexer is not connected.
This is the case in particular for printers like the Officejet 7310 where
the duplexer was not included with the standard printer but was an added
accessory. These pages are to fix an issue, not to say that duplex
printing is not available in Vista.

Bob, your patch worked perfectly. I can now print on both sides
automatically without that annoying page inversion. Many thanks!

Bob,

Thanks for the patch. It works great on my HP OfficeJet 6110with the
duplexor. No more printing the "Flip Page" (or head to toe) option all
the time.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Bob,

Just installed the patch on my Officejet 7410xi All-in-one and it works
great. Got rid of the annoying head to toe duplexing bug.

Hello Alan

I am having a similar problem with my HP Deskjet d135. But I do not get as
far as the others. My Duplex Printing is somply not recohnized at all and
the only alternative offered is to MANUALLY duplex print.

I am using Vista Home Premium
Version 6.0.6000 Build 6000
