Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
I have had intermittent problems with my HP 6110 All in One since I
got my laptop with Vista Ultimate April 2007. This time the printer has
been out of
action for 4 weeks and nothing I have done has fixed the problem.
On a previous occasion I removed all Apple software which then fixed
the problem! I have no more to remove now.
The printer says "scanner failure - turn off then on again" (exactly
as it did before) and sounds as though the scanner on the flatbed is
jammed (again: as before). Nothing prints. On previous occasions I found
out the error code, but can't identify one this time.
I have removed and reinstalled the driver disc; downloaded a fresh
driver; used the Vista driver all without success. I have also run
through all the HP and MS suggested fixes etc.
Can you suggest anything or send a fix?

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
I, too, have HP printers (7410 and 7310 Officejet All-in-One models),
each of which has a two-sided (duplex) printing attachment. However,
when printing using a new Dell notebook running Vista Home Premium, I
cannot print AUTOMATICALLY in duplex mode (it is not an option on the
print menus). I can print on both sides of the paper by MANUALLY
reinserting the paper. I was told by HP that "a patch is being worked
on by Microsoft", but cannot find any info about it. I'm thoroughly
disgusted. Can anyone provide any assitance?

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
HP has to provide the updated driver, they wrote the drivers that are
included in Vista.

hp officejet 6100 series duplex flips page bug
My hp officejet 6110xi also flips the page even though Flip Page is NOT checked and the picture shows a spiral binder on the left of a page in portait layout.
Good News:
In Windows Vista updates I found:
Hewlett-Packard - Other Hardware - officejet 6100 (DOT4USB) that was released 1/9/2008.
Bad News:
I repeatedly get Failed update code 80070103. What does this code mean? What should I do? When I Goggled this code, it brought me to Vistaheads for the first time. Where is your search engine???

Make sure the duplexer has been enabled - Start, Printers, double-click on
the Officejet, Printer, Properties, Device Settings, Installable Options
and make sure the Duplex Unit (for 2-sided printing) is set to "Installed",
Apply, OK.
Once you do this you will probably find the back side is printed upside
down. In this case send me an email requesting a patch for the duplexer.

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
Bob:
Thanks so much for sending the instructions for duplex printing using
Vista. It worked!!! However, as you indicated, the back side is being
printed upside down. Therefore, please e-mail me the patch for the
duplexer in order to correct it.
Thanks again!

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer
I just finished a chat with HP support. While he wouldn't acknowledge
the bug in the 6100 driver, he did have me install the Deskjet 6500
series driver in which the duplexing works right.
1. add printer - hp - officejet 6500 series
2. install as lpt1 for now. Finish the driver wizard.
3. Open printer properties as administrator and change the port to the
usb port the 6100 driver setup.
Print to the 6500 driver it will duplex right. Hope this helps.
