printer problems

After upgrading my machine to vista business from xp pro all my installed
printers disapeared.

Trying to add the printers back using add printer from the priners folder
produces the error message below.

'Windows can't open add printer. The local print server service is not
running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine'

After starting the above service and trying again I get the same error
message.
Looking at the service, I find that the service has stopped again.

This happens every time, any help would be appreciated.

I too am having this problem. I feel like just loading XP onto this brand new
HP laptop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Before you commit yourself, check very carefully with HP for the files
you will need to download to support the special features laptops have.
Some manufacturers are not providing XP files for models delivered with
VISTA on them.
