Vista print spooler problem with MC2400W and MC2430DL printers

Recently my daughter acquired a new HP dv6418ca laptop that came with
Vista installed.
There is a networked Konica Minolta MC2430DL printer in the house and
another MC2400W USB printer for herself. We downloaded and installed
Vista drivers for these printers, and Vista acknowledged them to be
digitally registered.
After a Vista update, the test page could be printed properly in
either printer. Further document to print would elicit an error
bubble near the task bar, and the document would not be printed.
However, on Vista reboot, the document would be printed successfully.
This shows a Vista print spooler problem. Hope further Vista updates
will include improvements to its print spooler.
Previous to the Vista update, any further document after the test page
would just hang somewhere, not printed and could not be cancelled.

Microsoft supposedly provides free e-mail response within 90 days of
the Vista activation. I tried to notify Microsoft the problem, its
website demanded the product ID(obtainable from Control Panel -
System). I provided the correct product ID but Microsoft declared the
number invalid. Soon the 90 day period will be up.

I will help you resolve your issue. I understand that you are able to print
only after restarting the computer. Am I correct?

If it is, then follow the steps below:

Follow the steps below to restart the spooler.

1. Click Start >>All Programs >> Accessories >> Run.
2. Type, SERVICES.MSC in the box and press Ok.
It will open one window with so many services listed.
3. Search for the service "Print Spooler".
4. Right-click on Print Spooler >> Click on Restart.

And, then

1.Click Start, and right-click Computer.
2.Click Properties, then click Hardware. (or you can see the Device Manager
directly here on the lefthand pane)
3.Click Device Manager.
4.Double-click the Universal Serial Bus Controllers branch to expand it.
5.Right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
6.Click Power Management.
7.De-select the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
check box.
Note: If the Root Hub is listed twice in the Device Manger, perform the
steps 5 to 7 on the second entry.

8.Click OK, and close Device Manager.

After that, please restart the computer and then try to print.
I hope, this should resolve the issue.

Thank you for your tip. Initially I tried to locate the control for
the print spooler, but you have pointed it out.

The problem turned out not to be power management. The print spooler
just needs a kick to start emptying itself. I have now the print
spooler window in the task bar. After a document is sent to the
printer, the print spooler "Restart" needs to be clicked; the document
will print. Apparently there is only one print spooler for more than
one printer. This "Restart" works for the networked printer as well
as the USB printer.

Hopefully the next update of the print spooler software will eliminate
the need for "Restart".
