Error encountered when installing epson perfection vista drivers

I have been trying to set up my Epson Perfection 1670 scanner with my new
install of Vista Ultimate. I got the Vista drivers from their site at
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...yp e=Overview
but when I run the installer I get the error message "Could not copy files.
Check the setup disc, then run setup again.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\\setup.ini" and yes the error uses the
double '\' in it. I've emailed epson support and they claim it's an OS error
an not an epson problem. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Is
there a way to install the drivers?

I had same trouble today and first thing i did was look around the
forums to see if there was a solution

no chance as epson seem to be very unhelpfull.

anyway i sussed out a soloution!


download the software from epson,
creat new folder and drop the downloaded zip file into it,
open the folder and right click the zip file and unzipp here!
then plug the scaner in,
wait for vista to ask for the software,
direct vista to the folder you unzipped into,
just simply select that folder and tick the any sub folders box,
hit ok or whatever,
vista will install the drivers etc.

then vista will say all done!

stick a document in the scanner and hit the scan button next to the
power light button, and it will open photoshop or something if you have
it

then hit file, import, epson perfection 1670... and jobs done.
strangley enough a little box apers with the epson scan software

weird but sorted
