microsoft.public.windows.vista.performance maintenance

Sleep mode

When I leave the computer with no programs running, it goes to sleep. When I
come back it wakes up but Microsft Publisher is running and my scanner twain
is activated. I can find no reason for this. How can I stop it from happening?
