Slow performance in IE on Vista
Why is IE so darn slow when it comes to connecting to web sites, and
downloading. Currently we have a AMD 64-bit processor running at about 2
gig, and 1 gig of memory so that shouldn't be the problem.

What can I do to improve the IE performance? And switching to Mozilla isn't
the best way to go right now.... in case anyone is going to suggest
that.....

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Have you tried disabling add-ons? Tools/Manage Add-Ons/Enable or Disable,
try disabling any active ones.

Re: Slow performance in IE on Vista
Yes, there are plugins which can cause them to slow down.
If you have Skype, then remove that button from toolbar.
Google Toolbar can also slow performance and it's rubbish anyway.

Basically remove all extra toolbars and plugins to test - then add the ones
you really want and see which one causes the slow performance.

Re: Slow performance in IE on Vista

- delete all cookies, and temp files for the IE. 'Tele2 Windows Vista -
Delete temporary internet files'
- set all the default setting for the IE. (go to the advanced tab on
the internet options windiow and click reset)
- are you using any limewire, bitTorrent or any of those P2P programs?
- are you using dial-up? lol

RE: Slow performance in IE on Vista
Pacific Bell discribes this internent problem, you must purchase their high
speed internet or a different modem, here istheir message starting with
Dial-in below, sorry but you must purchase a new modem "K56flex or v.90 modem"
City 14.4, 28.8,
33.6 or x2 Modems K56flex, v.90
Modems ISDN LAN ISDN
ISDN - Single user on a single computer using the Internet Service via an
ISDN Connection
ISDN LAN - Multiple users using multiple computers connected to a Local Area
Network (LAN) and using the Internet Service via an ISDN Connection

Dial-In Locations where there are Different 56K and 33.6 Kbps Dial-In Numbers
If you have a modem with 33.6 speeds or less, or if you have an x2
technology 56K modem, you must continue to dial into the current 33.6 Kbps
dial-in number. The reason for this is that our 56K modem pools have been
optimized for K56flex or v.90 modems only. Users who attempt to dial into our
56K modem pool and who do not have a K56flex or v.90 modem will not see
speeds associated with 56K and may experience significant connection and
performance difficulties. Go to the 56K FAQ for help on finding out what kind
of modem you have.

RE: Slow performance in IE on Vista
I have found that having a Omnipage scan program in your start up program
will cause a lot of problems. Run msconfig and uncheck the Omni program click
apply and OK and you will restart. I hope this will help somone, it stoped
one of my big head aches.

This was with Vists Hone Premium 32 bit.

RE: Slow performance in IE on Vista
The best thing to do is to burn the disk which vista came on in an
incinerator and UPGRADE to XP PRO, it works, Microsoft tried to reinvent the
wheel with VISTS and FAILED.
