Blue screen from screensavers and score updates

I just recently put together a new PC specs are as follows:

XFX 8600gt graphics
P5N-E SLI motherboard from asus
2gb ram
2.13 Ghz Intel core 2 E6400



The problems I am having are:

1) when I attempt to change the screen saver, whenever I select anything
from the drop down menu, vista goes to blue screen.

2) Aero is not enabled because my Computer score is too low, However when I
click "Update my Score" I get the blue screen again.


Are these issues common? What can i do wo fix this?
