Persistence Module Stopped Working

I am running Vista Home Premium SP 1 on an Acer Notebook. Windows updates
installed on 3/12 seem to have set up multiple errors including persistence
module stopped working which started yesterday. How do I unistall these
updates. System restore does not go back that far.
