Windows Mail is very, very slow

What can I do to speed up Windows Mail when it opens?
Some times it takes about 1 minute to open.
I am using Windows Ultimate.

You might want to post to microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail.

the size of the contact list and the data base folders can cause wm to be slow.
