using sony viao and vista HOME PREMIUM
what's a good spyware program
tried a couple I used with XP and they either will not install or install
properly

Ad-Aware 2008, Spybot S&D, A-squared, Spyware blaster are all good in
Vista. Spyware blaster is a real time monitor, A-squared is good except
it takes forever to do a scan, and all these are freeware.

There are no *good* spyware programs. All spyware programs are bad and
should be avoided. Instead you should install and use *anti*-spyware
programs. ;-)

Also note that no anti-spyware is anywhere near perfect, so you should use
more than one to give you decent protection. I recommend using two or more
from the following list (all of which work under Vista):

Spybot Search and Destroy
AdAware
Spyware Blaster
Windows Defender
a-Squared
Super Antispyware

I have seen far too many users download hoax anti-spyware and anti-virus
programs by Google searches. It's wise to seek recommendations.

If one can't maneuver their way around a Google search and find a
reputable download site, they're too damned stupid to be operating a
computer and to be seeking advice from complete strangers.

You were absolutely right to ask here. Many of the bad programs are
the easiest to come across. What the "poor thinking" naysayers do
not take into account is that you are not looking for just one person
to recommend something. Rather to sort the many. Good move!
