It's certainly possible, but I'd think a better way to find out what
the problem is (since you haven't had it long and it's still under
warranty) would be to reset the machine to out-of-the-box condition
using the recovery utility.
Leave it that way for a while to make sure you haven't had a hardware
failure, then SLOWLY add the programs you like - one at a time - and
see how things go.
Patience is obviously called for here.
