I've had this problem on my old P4 machine. In my case it was a hardware
soundcard that was the culprit. I didn't investigate the problem in
detail but motherboards are set to "wake on" certain hardware. I suspect
my motherboard had a setting that said "wake up when sound card or PCI
card is plugged in." I eventually removed the card and used my onboard
sound. For you guys it might be more complicated, but I hope this will
give you some leads on how to solve this issue on your own.
Unfortunately I'm not a pro with computers so I'm just passing on what
limited knowledge I have.
