problem with monitor in sli vista
i'm running vista home premium mb asus a8n sli premium, 2gigs ram, 750 sli
rosewell power, 75gig 10,00 rpm hd, 150gig 10,000 rpm hd & 160 7200rpm hd,
4400 amd2x processor & 2 8800gt 512 video. i upgraded from 2 7800gtx cards.
finially after having to reset cmos to allow bios to see monitor i was able
to use one evga 8800gt card but it would only work in the secondary pci-e 16
slot contrary to the mb book which says to use theprimary slot. (wouldn't
work) vista then ran with more then before reboots but all worked. i then
decided to add a second evga 8800gt card in sli. well all seemed to work
after a bit of trouble. that is until the first reboot. if the lcd monitor
is connected to primary video card i can see the bios start up page, hitting
delete and i enter bios. the computer continues bootong and gets as far as
windows where the blue line runs diagnoally across screen but when it is
time for windows to open the minitor shows it is no longer connected to
system. so windows i think boots up partially but i can't see anything.
now in i attach the monitor to the secondary card well the monitor shows no
connection to computer for a few minutes until it boots past the bios ans
non windows screens but finially boots into vista. and then rund better
then before in sli. if i need to boot into bios i have to switch the
monitor cable. i would love to have both the bios & booting into vista on
one connection.
so, if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate.
thanks, jude
