Calling Dr House!
The problem is onscreen and printed - the bottoms of letters on some lines
are cut off. It happens in Word, WordPerfect, Notepad, and WordPad, but not
Outlook Express. (Line frequency can be as short as 1 in 2.)
I don't think the problem is printer-related, though it might be.
I think the problem started on my laptop (OS Vista 6), but then migrated to
my PC (OS W2K 5.00.2195). The PC is connected to an HP 6310 All-in-One
printer, and the laptop was programmed for that printer, though I never
attached it.
When the problem arose, I was advised to delete the printer and drivers. I
did this for both computers, though I could not delete the drivers on the
laptop because for some reason I'm disallowed. (The Remove option is
greyed.)
I have also uninstalled WordPerfect from the laptop, rebooted, then
reinstalled. No change.
I have scanned for viruses. None.
What do I know for sure?
The problem definitely occurs on the PC in Word, WP, Notepad, and WordPad
when the document is printed. It is only visible onscreen in WP. It occurs
onscreen in WP on the laptop. (The laptop isn't connected to a printer, so I
can't test the other programmes.)
I had difficulty a few months ago with Quattro Pro (the speadsheet in the
Corel Office suite) on my laptop. I had to reinstall the suite quite a few
times. Perhaps something became corrupted in the laptop, then got
transferred to the PC when I copied files over, and then spread to other
word processing programmes.
Any suggestions, anybody?
Thanks.
