Adding extra ram
my ls40 Toshiba satellite laptop has 2 memory cards of 512mb. I wanted to
upgrade this to 2gb so bought 2x 1gb cards. the computer would not start up
using both these and would only work when I inserted the 1gb with the 521mb
cards. The performance does not seem to have increased and when I checked in
the welcome center (vista) it stated that the ram was just 504mb. I am now
totally confused.

Re: Adding extra ram

The ram in your laptop is shared with your graphics processor.
If you go into your bios on bootup there will be an option to set the
amount of ram used by the video processor.

Use a memory configerator, as available at eg Crucial or Corsair.com to find
memory guarenteed to work on your sys
