Windows Explorer keeps stopping and re-starting every 10 seconds

Hi I have developed a problem with windows explorer stopping and re-starting
every 10 seconds, I have tried system restore, used spybot , rescaned for
virus, IE7 still works ok, as does all other programmes.
Anu ideas as to the problem and how to fix. many thanks Derek
