Won't let me chkdsk /f in admin
I thought I could figure out how to run chkdsk /f . How do I run chkdsk /f?

I ran chkdsk /f in administrator account. Clicked "start" then opened a DOS
window. Typed CD\ to get to root directory. Then typed in chkdsk /f.
Below is the message I got:
"Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges.
You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode."

I am on a 32-bit Vista Home Premium (SP1) box.

Thanks for the help
Bob

Right-click the command prompt shortcut (Accessories start menu folder), and
select "Run as Administrator".

You need to post a tutorial to run chkdsk??

The original poster got a message that says "You have to invoke this
utility running in elevated mode."

It is as simple as running CMD in elevated mode (as Admin) and then running
"chkdsk /f"

Does a tutorial really have to be written for that??

If Bob knows what the message " you have to invoke this utility running
inelevated mode" means, he would not have posted the question here. The
tutorial is for people who DO NOT know. When one does not know, Nothing is
obvious. This forum is for people to exchange knowledge, not to redicule
others.

Hi Xenomorph,

In addition to that part, the tutorial also shows you different methods
on how to run chkdsk and how to run the different chkdsk command
options. It helps on differnet levels for what someone may need help
with on chkdsk.

Sometimes the simpler things are not always as obvious for people just
starting out with computers, so I try to include everything in the
tutorials for all levels of experience to make it easy to understand for
all.

Regards,
Shawn
