Unzip speed needs serious improvement
I have a new HP a1740n with Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @1.86 GHz & 1.87 GHz and
2038 MB of RAM. The machine has Vista Home Premium installed. I have owned
the machine 10 days and have only installed office 2003. Today, I tried to
unzip a 20 MB zip file containing 1,500 files and it took an unbelievable 28
minutes. 28 minutes!!!

I couldn't believe that this was accurate, but some quick searches on the
web finds that I'm not the only one having this problem with Vista. I don't
know what the issue is, but this is nearly a deal-breaker. Mac looks better
every day.

Windows Explorer in general on Vista seems to have very poor performance and
various issues. In the meantime, I'd suggest a 3rd party archiving tool. I
myself like WinRAR (www.rarlabs.com).

I love my mac notebook, but if you think switching to a Mac means you'll
_never_ have problems you'll be very very disappointed.
