System Restore - save mode

Have been recently plagued by system restore not working too. However I
found that if I start computer in Safe Mode (F8) it will restore just fine.
Is this typical of Vista HP?

I believe SR worked fine when I first got new Gateway NB, but no longer
does. Don't know why. If you know of a fix, please let me know.

Also, I've recently experienced various problems with both Vista & XP
computers. After removing Spybot S&D, the problems fixed themselves. There
is something about the latest Spybot version that's not working correctly
with my computers. Just a suggestion.

No, it's not typical. Normally, System Restore works just fine. Something is
interfering with the creation of the restore points in normal mode. A
frequent culprit of this unwanted behavior is Norton antivirus software. If
