Windows SIDEBAR

i have been using Windows vista on my new Sony vaio, been using it since
1/17/08, my problem is this:

when i try "add gadget" the window that is supposed to pop up in the screen
doesnt pop up, when i try clicking the ( + ) icon in the sidebar to launch
the screen
it doesnt work either. I tried restarting/shut down even restore system but
it ddnt work at all. I even tried Merging "sidebar_enable.registrion entries.
but it ddnt work either.

this is starting to bug me, PLs help anyone!!!!
