Power Options keeps resetting upon startup

Dear All,

Whenever I start the computer, the Minimum and Maximum Processor State in
the Power Options keeps resetting itself to 100%. This happens even to the
Balanced profile.

I have updated the bios and enabled "Cool and Quiet", but still does not
work.

I'm using AMD 64 X2 5600 on a ASUS M2A-VM.

Please help. Thank you very much

if your computer is a dektop and not a laptop then it doesnt really
matter anyway it'll just slow your computer down if you change it

Actually it does matter because the CPU temperature rises quickly when BOTH
the Minimum and Maximum Processor State in the Power Options keeps resetting
itself to 100% upon restart. I have to manually set it to 5% minimum and
100% maximum. If I forget to do that manually AT EVERY RESTART, the CPU gets
very hot quickly, even for a desktop.

I solved the problem.

I found out that the ATI Catalyst software was restoring my minimum
processor state to 100% every time upon startup. I disabled Catalyst from
startup and it solved the problem.
