computer freezing up
My computer has been freezing up and when it doesn't it runs really slowly.
What could it be that is causing this to happen? What can I do?

RE: computer freezing up
That is usally a good indication that you have a virus or spyware program
running on your system. Try running a virus scan on your pc and then run
spybot to check for spyware.

This could be caused by software (malware) or hardware failure. There is
no way for anyone to give you focused help since you provided basically
no information. All you've told us is the equivalent of "my computer is
broken".

Go to these links to see what details you need to include in your next
post so people can help you:

In the meantime:

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Re: computer freezing up

You can also try to look in your error logs. It may be something simple.

Are your drivers all up to date?
Did this happen just after an update, microsoft try to update some of
the drivers of your motherboard.
Go into device manager to see if there are any problems.
Try defragging your hard drive and your pagefile, and if you know how
your registry.
Is your computer new?
When I first built my current rig indexing took quite a bit of time.
Look at your performance logs.
List your system specs.
Try a restore to a previous time.
