Backlight doesn't work under battery power

I have a Dell inspiron 6400 laptop. The monitor backlight works fine when
under mains power but the monitor backlight doesn't work under battery power.

I can still see the display, but it isn't lit.

Is there a fix for this?

Have you tried to use Fn+arrow up ?
If it dows work ,then you just need to change the setting in the control

The fn arrow up worked. Not sure where to fix in the control panel but I'll
work it out.
