blank spaces in display

i only recently started encountering this with my Vista Home Premium
(32-bit). Certain spaces where there should be text appears a solid blank
color; this includes posts/ threads do not appear at this site- I've read
them and am sending this message using another computer with XP. This occurs
in various websites, certain sections of AOL welcome page, and in a Quick
Books program.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
