LCD Display Resolution Resets to Lowest on Startup and After Sleep

Hi. I have Vista on an IBM T61. I occasionally play a computer game (Myst
V) that automatically resets my video resolution to 800 x 600 when it starts.
After I am done playing, I reset the resolution to a higher resolution using
the Personalization and Display Properties. Unfortunately, it changes back
to the low resolution on its own - even when I am not playing the game -
whenever the computer is started up from shutdown or from sleep. As a
result, I have to reset it higher every time I use the computer. How do I
stop that from happening? Thanks. Mike
