Everything on the screen is huge.

I recently used a data projector. On connection everything on the laptop
screen changed spontaineously to a larger size. Now on disconnection I can
not work out how to return my display to normal. (have checked the
resolution). Any ideas? This change was as a direct result of connecting the
data projector I made no changes to the display myself.

Usually the projectors work at lower resolution than we typically use, say
800x600 instead of 1024x768 or larger.
Try changing the display resolution to whatever you normally use.
(Seems counter intuitive, but you may be surprised .)
