Are you saying:
1. When someone logs on to computer using a user account that has
administrator privileges, there are no icons present for CD and DVD drives.
2. When someone logs on to the computer using a user account that has
limited privileges, the CD and DVD icons are present.
If that's what you're saying, can either or both user accounts see icons for
the hard drive(s)?
Did you install updates, software or hardware, or make any changes right
before this started happening? If so, did you uninstall that software or
hardware or undo the changes you made?
