Funky Screen when awakened form sleep mode

I have a Dell 1501 Laptop with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200m graphics card. When
I wkae the computer from sleep mode, the screen starts to show colors that
cover everything and flash a lot. People have told me to just de-gauss it,
but I can't figure out where the button is on my laptop.

You do not (can not) de-gauss an LCD screen.
You have other video driver or hardware errors.
