Hi, Craig.
How long have you had Vista installed? Has it had time (probably several
days) to complete initial Indexing so that future searches will be quick?
During those first few days, we often have to put up with the 100% CPU usage
problem. The good news: It gets better in a few days. UNLESS you
reinstall Vista, in which case it has to start all over. :>(
To check on this, click Start | Control Panel | Indexing Options. You can
Modify which locations get indexed. You might want to exclude your largest
volumes until some time when you won't be using the computer for a while,
then include that volume again and just let it run overnight. By morning,
you might see the welcome message, "Indexing complete". Mine now tells me,
"1,022,566 items indexed" ;<)
