lock computer + screensaver = crash.

hi im running dual monitor off one graphics card.

ive set vista to disable monitors after about 10 mins. this works fine
and they re-enable when i move the mouse.

however when i lock the pc, and leave it 10 mins, the screens turn off
as normal, but moving the mouse or pressing any keys does not return
them to working. its not a monitor problem as turning them off and on
doesnt help and they work all the time apart from this. i have to cold
reset the machine.

any ideas?

thanks in advance.

Have you tried pressing and releasing the CPU's power button quickly?
That works for us.

Re: lock computer + screensaver = crash.
Sounds like your Vista PC is entering Sleep mode (see your Power settings).
I've had problems getting my two Dell PC's to properly return from Sleep
mode. One of them will work OK with Hibernate, the other doesn't work with
either mode.

Re: lock computer + screensaver = crash.

thanks for the replies.

its not set to enter sleep mode (i keep checking) and pressing the
power button for any length of time shorter than the turn off period
results in nothing.

What video card and/or driver are you using?

Are you using the latest for that card?

I have the exact same issue with RTM and Beta drivers for Radeon 9600. I
haven't tried the power button trick but I did disable sleep, thinking that
was the issue. Cold reboot is the only known solution for me at the moment.

Same Issue here. I cannot awake the machine fronm sleep mode without
completely powering down. Also the Power LED does not indicate sleep mode as
it did by blinking in RC1. This issue is new to RTM for me.
