Regarding my issue mentioned above, I just noticed a rather odd behaviour:

Every time I uncheck in Folder Options | View ‘Always show menus’ then click
on Apply and OK, then reopen Folder Options | View, the ‘Always show menus’
option is checked again. It’s like something always forces this option to be
checked.

It makes no difference if I have any other window open or not, or if the
relevant “alwaysshowmenus� registry keys are set to 0. Even though these are
set to 0, the ‘Always show menus’ option is forced checked again in Folder
Options | View. And yes, this setting controls whether the traditional
toolbar is shown or not, just like the Alt toggle.

Very strange!

All help and advice would be much appreciated to resolve this nagging issue.

Bump. I have the exact same problem. I got this issue after using QT
Bar (tabs for windows explorer) then uninstalling it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Qbailey,

You might see if Method Four in this tutorial will allow you to turn
the Menu Bar on or off.
