Help In Safe Mode

..My one month old laptop has crashed and before I do a system restore, I am
trying to save some files in safe mode. I have a DVD Burner that I am trying
to use to save files and cannot figure out how to get the burner to work in
safe mode. I put in a blank DVD or CD and I get a message that says it does
not recognize it. Any suggestions?? I am running Vista Home Premium.

You will probably not be able to burn discs in Safe Mode, I don't think the
services needed to do that are started. Better use a USB flash drive or a
USB external hard drive since those services are started in Safe Mode.

Safe mode uses basic drivers and video to boot - CD/DVD drivers are not
loaded.
