Avoid the use of any generic registry tools in Vista. They often identify
and remove what they percieve to be dead entries that are in fact necessary
for normal system operation. They are frequently (second only to certain
overrated antivirus programs) the cause of a number of issues that seem
unrelated but in fact are. There is no need for a registry cleaner in a
modern version of Windows (XP or Vista). The only registry tool one should
use is one designed for removal of specific entries related to a program
that was or is installed on a system.
