desktop background

when i put my laptop on this morning the background went black and i have
been trying for ages to get it back to normal, but its still black does
anyone no wot i can do to get in back its a new laptop and runs on windows
vista, nothin like this has happened to me before help me please! x

Right click on desktop.
Choose Personalize.
Choose Desktop Background.
Pick a picture.
Browse if necessary.
Choose OK when done.
